Billy Dee of the Ozarks

This is not a story of whimsy, but of life. Man up and live it. Against the backdrop of the Ozarks, a young boy named Billy Dee struggles to man up to life. His mother is a drug addict, his father in prison. It was never going to be easy. After a succession of events renders him the ward of a shirttail relation, Madighan, he comes to terms with an ancestry he could never have imagined. One filled with mystery, magic, and the cost of destiny. A world knitted together with Southern grit, apple pie, vintage comic books, and a love of the Blues. A world blessed with Beaudreau the bloodhound, Boo to his friends, of noble birth, mind you. A true genre crossing adventure that refuses to be pigeonholed.

"May you never live in a world where good does not triumph over evil, and they is no Blues."

The Wizard's Bitch

The sequel to Billy Dee of the Ozarks provides a harrowing backstory and a gripping conclusion to the epic adventure and love story of Billy Dee and Katie/Kōtai.

Kōtai's story begins in medieval Nippon during the reign of the child empress Meishō. An Akita pup is whelped among the Matagi, and a perfect little bitch she was. A gift from the gods, whispered the gamekeeper. When she is stolen, and taken to a far land known as Scotland, a land still haunted with magic and wizardry, events unfurl, which never should have happened.

Looking for a classic love story? This isn't it ...

"A story that begs to discern between the power of free will or the chains of destiny."

Historical Novelette · 2024 · 78 pages

Sueños Amargos

An historical novelette of life in post-WW2 of a dry and dusty mining town in decline. A snapshot in time as this small town dies and a nation moves towards the future. In the great American southwest there are hundreds of small worn-out towns. Many of them are now bona fide ghost towns. But at one time they were inhabited by real people who lived, loved, and died there.

The fictional town of Sueños Amargos is one of them. It's a short read, but filled with characters, who are quite real in my fertile imagination. I hope you will give them a chance to live in yours.

Come and meet Rupert C., a tortured soul of battle, now the town drunk. Meet the Argentine, who is he really? Spend time with the Widow Elle, having her own troubled past. Get to know Texas Joe, who likes to read Zane Grey westerns and, of course, Cecelia, the last of the founding family whose stage stop had become the heart of the town.

"This is, indeed, a short read to remember."
